Clinical researchers expect image review workstations to provide a set of basic functionality. Handling DICOM as a source image data is one example. Other examples include image multiplanar and oblique reformat, lightbox, comparisons, tracked cursors, and calipers for measurement. In conjunction with funding from NAC, GE Research is providing these base capabilities to Slicer3.
