Conclusion

Detailed discussion of floating point error on some mac builds. Determined it was probably due to issues related to updated mac compilers and c++ library bugs. Determined to wait and see if the bug goes away in future mac compiler releases. The issue occurs in the test on Steve's machine, but not in the factory builds and not in 4.4.
