In a nutshell, Slicer3 is:
* A cross-platform end user application for analyzing and visualizing medical images.
* A collection of Open Source libraries for developing and deploying new image computing technologies.
* Intended to replace the venerable Slicer2 (see [[Slicer3:Transition_from_Slicer2 |information on the transition]])
* An algorithm development platform with a powerful new [[Slicer3:Execution_Model_Documentation| Execution Model]] to facilitate creation of new modules.
